1. Removes essential minerals
2. The water is usually acidic.
3. There can be RO membrane breakage. There is very less mechanism(water purifier) who inform when to switch Ro membrane.
4. It requires high water pressure and that some water is wasted in the reject stream.
5. Maintenance is also sometimes mentioned as a drawback for RO water filters.
6. Not kills bacteria, viruses.
7. Some critical contaminants are not removed. The reverse osmosis membrane alone does NOT remove volatile organic chemical (VOCs), chlorine and chloramines, pharmaceuticals, and a host of other synthetic chemicals found in municipal water.
