16 Disadvantages Of Gas Welding

1. Not Suitable for Heavy Sections. 2. Large heating zone. Nearby to the welding thermally unstable elements may be damaged due to high heating zones. 3. It provides low surface finish. This process needs a finishing operation after welding. 4. High skill operator is required. 5. Less Working Temperature of Gas Flame. 6.  With a thickness falling productivity. Welding thickness greater than 5 mm is disadvantageous. 7. Higher safety issue due to naked flame of high temperature. 8. Fumes evolved by shielding fluxes. 9. Slow Rate of Heating. 10. Almost defies mechanization, unlike arc welding. 11. It is Suitable only for soft and thin sheets.
