1. The G3 is the most lightweight, starting at 2.53kg (for basic configuration) and the G5 starts at 2.65kg (GTX 1050/Ti) and 2.85kg (GTX 1060 + UHD).
2. Build Quality: I've heard the chassis of the g3 feels quite plasticky and potentially cheap, you may not like that. The g5 has a rock solid chassis - there is a massive jump in build quality between the g3 and g5.
3. Dimension:
G3 15: 23 x 380 x 258 mm (0.89 x 14.96 x 10.16 inches)
G3 17: 25 x 415 x 279 mm (0.98 x 16.35 x 10.99 inches)
G5 15:
25 x 389 x 275 mm (0.98 x 15.32 x 10.82 inches)
4. Video Card:
G3:
Up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB GDDR5 graphics memory
Dell G5:
Up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with NVIDIA Max Q Design technology, 6GB GDDR5 video memory
5. The G3 is meant for those who want some of the power while having a sleek looking machine.
6. I'd personally lean more towards the G5, as if you want a gaming laptop - it should last long and do a better job of taking down it's arch nemesis (Heat).
7. Hard Drive:
G3:
Up to 256GB Solid State Drive (Boot) + 1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive (Storage)
G5:
Up to 512GB Solid State Drive (Boot) + 1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive (Storage)
8. The G3 is a bit more lightweight and lighter on the features.
9. G3 is thinnner g5 is thicker.
10. Operating System
G5:
Up to Windows 10 Home 64bit English
G3:
Up to Windows 10 Home Plus Single Language
11. G3 is better because of its mobility and size.
