12 Difference Between Visa And Mastercard Debit Card

1. Maestro is a multi-national debit card service owned by MasterCard.
2. Visa Inc. is an American multinational financial services corporation headquartered in Foster City, California, United States. It facilitates electronic funds transfers throughout the world, most commonly through Visa-branded credit cards and debit cards.
3. In USA, Visa is accepted more than MasterCard but outside USA, even MasterCard gives tough competition to Visa.
4. The interest rates, rewards, annual fees, and all other charges are issued by your bank and when you pay your bill you are paying it to the bank or institution that issued your card and not Visa or MasterCard.
5. The main difference: Maestro Cards always requires a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to be entered by customer on all accepting devices (POS, ATM, etc)  when your card is used. This is a huge advantage to protect money (balance) in your savings/checking account.
6. Visa is accepted more by the websites and also by shops and other establishments than the Maestro.
7. The Visa cards come with a charge back a right that gives a better protection to the costumers who use it.
8. Maestro cards have been designed as a replacement for cheques. As such these cards do not come with charge back rights, which means that the customers have no protection if a service or goods fail.
