Advantages:
1. Pressed parts are stronger than machined parts due to a change in the internal structure of the material.
2. Speed. The speed in which mechanical presses can be ran are higher than hydraulic presses.
3. More energy efficient than hydraulic presses.
4. Consistency of tonnage at bottom of the stroke.
5. More platens (decks) can be added for multi-product work.
6. Up and down stroke is due to the rotation of the crankshaft driven by mechanical and adjustable distance.
Disadvantages:
1. Less controllable and less precise than hydraulic presses.
2. More dangerous than hydraulic presses because of high speed and fewer stopping mechanisms.
