1. Mailchimp offer a trial period in which their service is free for up to 2000 subscribers.
2. MailChimp has all of the features that AWeber has for email campaigns.
3. Aweber:
Hosting and emailing a list containing up to 500 subscribers: $19 per month
Mailchimp:
The Mailchimp ‘Starting up’ plan is free and allows you to host an email database of up to 2,000 records and send up to 12,000 e-newsletters per month to it.
4. Mailchimp does allow you to embed a generic form on your website.
5. Aweber allows you to both create and embed your form using a built in form creator/editor.
6. Both platforms have extensive online tutorials. Aweber|Mailchimp (I think Mailchimp has the edge here).
7. Both platforms have email tech support. Aweber|Mailchimp.
Only Aweber has live chat support AND a toll-free number you can call to speak with a person.
