10 Disadvantages Of Aac Blocks

1. Cost of production higher than the ordinary concrete block or brick . 2. Aerated concrete blocks are made of inorganic materials, but they do not release negative wastes or pollute the environment. However, the process of autoclaving the concrete requires a lot of energy. 3. Plaster sometimes does not stick properly because of its smooth surface. Needs care during production itself, so that surface is not very smooth. 4. Efflorescence occurs through mortar and water. 5. Cracking in walls: we need to take precautions to eliminate drying shrinkage cracks and stress concentration cracks. 6. Not perfectly suitable for Load bearing walls: the lightweight-ness becomes a disadvantage for load bearing structures. 7. Availability: ACC blocks are factory made and they are not locally available compared to red clay bricks. 8. Product is brittle, about 10% loss during transportation, loading and unloading. 9. Needs a machine cutter to cut it, when chiseled, it breaks into pieces. 10. Disadvantage of AAC: Very high water absorption more than 30%, whereas CLC is less than 15%
